Monday, August 31st

Tonight's homework:

• Reading: Read 20 mins. and fill out log
• Math: Rounding worksheet (NOTE: Rounding was a very difficult concept for many of us in class today. This homework may take extra time and attention tonight. We will be spending another day on rounding tomorrow. Our Chapter 2 math test will be this Wednesday over comparing numbers, ordering numbers, tables and rounding.)
• Word Study: Begin working on word study contracts. These should be kept in the word study pocket on the expanding file because time is given in class to work on assignments and this allows it to travel back and forth between school and home each day.

Tonight's Homework:

• Reading: Read for 20 mins. and fill out your log
• Math: Start working on your Chapter 2 bonus packet (and remember to show your graded Chapter 1 test to your parents!)
• Science: Bring a rock tomorrow (If you can, put it in a Ziploc bag labeled with your name)
• Social Studies: Worksheets (due Friday)

Tuesday, August 25th

Tonight's Homework:

• Reading: Read 20 mins. and fill out your log
• Math: TEST tomorrow--complete the study guide tonight and STUDY (Reminder: Bonus packets are due tomorrow) **Look on pages 14-15 of your book for extra practice for the test
• Science: Bring an interesting rock on Thursday

Reminder: Strings students need to bring their instruments (with their name labeled) for a 1:30 instrument check tomorrow.

• Math--interview an adult and write a 5-sentence paragraph about how that adult uses math every day (remember to check your spelling and punctuation and capitalization!)
• Reading--read the Homework Habits page, sign and return the bottom part

Poetry readings will begin at 1:40

April 22nd

Tonight's Homework:

• SCIENCE ROCKS AND MINERALS BOOKS ARE DUE TOMORROW!
• Our Math lesson took longer than usual today, so some students have homework tonight and the rest of the class will have the assignment tomorrow night. (Everyone gets either tonight or tomorrow night as a free night to work on DynaMath or the bonus packet.) The assignment is Reteach 15.3: Dividing with two-digit divisors.
• Final copies of haiku poems are due tomorrow. Remember to check the class blog at http://www.svalter80.blogspot.com if you need help!

April 21st

• Reading: Continue working on poems and reading log
