The following assignments need to be turned in on December 18th:
  • Math: page 264, Set A, #1-10 (Note: this assignment needs to be checked and signed by an adult. Many of us were having a hard time with this lesson in class today, so I want to make sure everyone has a little extra support on this assignment tonight--I don't want us learning any bad multiplication habits!)
  • Writing: personal narrative due (I have allowed about 45 minutes of class time tomorrow to work on this, too)
  • Health: body systems group presentation

Due 12/17

Please have the following assignments ready to turn in on December 17th:
  • Book recommendation ornament
  • Math reteach 11.4
  • Reading response letters (paragraphs 1 & 2 only; you may write paragraph 3 about a part of the story where you had a strong mental image for 5 bonus points if you would like extra credit--make sure to include a quote and support it)
  • We will also be taking our open book/notes Science test
REMINDER: Wednesday, Dec. 17th is the LAST day to turn in late/missing assignments for 2nd quarter!!!

Upcoming assignments:
  • Due Thursday, Dec. 18th: Personal narrative (published)--it may be typed at home or handwritten, but there WILL NOT be time to type at school; Health presentation over body systems
  • Due Friday, Dec. 19th: Word Study contract (please read it carefully--there are some special options for the holidays, and 4 items must be completed from the list); DynaMath due; Math quiz over Ch. 11 & 12
Please turn in any assignments that are completed early--I would love to have the opportunity to grade them and return them to you as soon as possible!

Snow Day UPDATE

I hope everyone enjoyed today's snow day!

This is the last week of the second quarter, so we have several big assignments/tests this week that I am rearranging because of the snow day. Please read carefully:

Tuesday, December 16th:
  • Final reading log of the quarter is due (I hope you did some extra reading today to earn some extra credit points!)
  • Time for final edit/begin publishing personal narratives in Writer's Workshop (these will be due THURSDAY)
  • Final work session for Health projects
Wednesday, December 17th:
  • Open book Science Test (rescheduled from Monday)--BOTH Valter and Bushman's classes
  • Reading ornament due (will be assigned Tuesday)
  • Reading response letters due (because of the snow day, there will NOT be a third paragraph assignment--only the first two paragraphs this time)
  • Visit to the library during Writer's Workshop for a holiday read aloud with Mrs. Graef :-)
Thursday, December 18th:
  • Health presentations due

For your next reading response letter, please include:
  • Paragraph 1--Title, author, what part you read, and a summary
  • Paragraph 2--Your own thinking (5-7 sentences)--Don't forget to use your sentence starters in the back of the book to help you!
  • Paragraph 3--Make a "thick" connection, quote the text (words from the book and page #), and explain your connection (5 sentences)
